Mar 24, 2023🦠🔬 PRRS and porcine circovirus have been shown to disrupt thyroid hormone levels, which leads to reduced growth performance. Researchers with the Western College of Veterinary Medicine are now assessing potential treatment options for the issue.
• So far, we know that at least those two viruses dysregulate the thyroid metabolism, at least transiently for a two-to-three-week period. This helps us understand why growth rates may be slowed down in pigs that are infected. Learn more about the study here.
