A little expansion… ⬆️
Feb 23, 2023🇺🇦 Ukraine will ask Turkey and the UN to start talks over an expansion to the Black Sea Grain Initiative: the plan is to formally request an expansion of at least one year (rather than just 120 days) and include Mykolaiv's ports.
• The deal, brokered by the UN and Turkey, allowed grain to be exported from three Ukrainian ports and is set to expire on March 18 – that is, unless the extensions are agreed upon, of course!
🤔 The thing is that Ukraine has repeatedly accused Russia of delaying inspections of ships carrying Ukrainian agricultural goods – to which they deny, leading to reduced shipments and losses for traders. However, the new requests, if met, could potentially solve this issue. Read more about it here.
