Big Brother, pig slaughter plants edition 📹🐷

📄 Less than a week after the Supreme Court's decision on Prop 12, a coalition of animal activist groups submitted a rulemaking petition to the USDA. They're asking (rather, demanding) that pig slaughter plants install cameras inside gondola cages used in carbon dioxide (CO2) stunning systems. See more about it here!

• According to them, US government inspectors are unable to determine whether pork-producing slaughter plants are complying with the federal Humane Methods of Slaughter Act (HMSA). 

In turn, most large meat slaughter plants have already installed cameras in many areas of their establishments. Also, several countries already require video monitoring of CO2 gas slaughter systems – including England, Scotland, Spain, and Israel.
