No, we don’t mean that pigs have refined tastes and good manners! We’re talking about lab-grown meat: cultured pork products will soon go into production! The breaking news is from Stakeholder Foods Ltd., an international deep-tech food company at the forefront of the cultured meat industry that will be using a new line of induced pluripotent porcine stem cells (iPS) to achieve the feat.

  • The unique process of cell cultivation and 3D bioprinting used in the process enables one cell bank to become an unlimited source for developing any type of muscle or fat cell – that is, meat, which is expected to achieve the taste, texture, and mouthfeel of conventional pork.
  • They’ll also produce ground pork products and pork biomass as an ingredient for hybrid food products, such as meatballs.

This new enterprise is part of the company’s already diverse product development activities, which include cultured beef, chicken, fish, and seafood. The company’s chief executive officer and founder commented they’re very excited to add pork to their portfolio – or is it now a porkfolio?
