Eureka!!! ๐ก
Feb 14, 2023๐ฆ Breakthrough!!! University of Minnesota researchers recently led successful efforts to work on the African Swine Fever virus (ASFV), having developed and validated a surrogate virus that will help develop effective mitigation strategies to control ASFV and keep it from entering North America.
๐งซ In addition to having a direct effect on ASFV, the surrogate virus – Emiliania huxleyi (EhV) – can also be safely used in field studies to help scientists understand more about the disease and design strategies to prevent its spread. The main benefits of EhV are its low risk to animals and humans along with its striking similarity to ASFV.
