If only pigs could wear masks… 😷

🇨🇳🦠 Despite Chinese farms having significantly improved hygiene and procedures lately, African Swine Fever (ASF) still circulates constantly – this year’s positive infection detections have exploded after the Lunar New Year holiday and estimates are that 50% of the northern production areas are infected, some of which are among the country’s top producers of hogs.

     • The fact that Chinese farms don’t typically report disease outbreaks to the government has added to the problem. 

📉 All in all, the result is going to be continuously low hog prices, since the outbreaks lead to many pigs getting slaughtered at any weight and consequently, fewer hogs reaching the market when demand improves in the second half of the year. Click here to better understand the issue…
