Into the ring 🥊
Nov 04, 2022🐷 A bunch of pigs from different nationalities line up to step into a boxing ring and fight for the Mexican championship belt – it says “international supplier”. Quite an image? It’s a somewhat realistic one.
- Mexico’s newest decree aims to reduce the impacts of inflation on consumers by reducing prices for basic foods – pork and beef included – through the suspension of duties on most imports of pork, beef and poultry.
- The idea is good, but everybody was a little bit concerned that this could lower all animal health and food safety requirements – even though it seems Mexico will continue enforcing proper regulations.
🇺🇸 What does this mean for the US pork industry?
- It means that we should keep our eyes wide open for any risks.
Also, additional suppliers, like Brazil, could enter the Mexican market, which means more competition!
