🇺🇦 Who turned the lights off? Russia’s continuous assault on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with missile and drone strikes did! The country’s power has been cut by nearly a third and outages are widespread, which have become a big problem for Ukrainian pig farmers, meat-processing plants, slaughterhouses, and retailers.

     • The power outages wreak havoc on the supply chain in the pig industry, makes it harder to deliver shipments, and drops the average capacity utilization factor of slaughterhouses. They harm feed mills as well, once they need to maintain uninterrupted work, but can’t.

📊 The result is painfully obvious and sadly true… As slaughterhouses and meat-processing plants have trouble operating, wholesale pork prices have started falling and retail prices have started rising. Read more about it here.
