Man’s (and agriculture’s) best friend 🐾

🐕‍🦺 The Beagle Brigade Act has been introduced in both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate. The bipartisan bills would provide permanent authorization to train detector dogs and their US Customs and Border Protection handlers to sniff out prohibited agricultural items that could carry foreign plant or animal pests and diseases into our country.

🛡️ This measure ensures the country has an essential tool in its fight against foreign pests and diseases, since the Brigade serves as the first line of defense for early detection at ports of entry – to keep ASF in check, for example.
