Meet our founder

Dr. Márcio Gonçalves, graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and then worked in commercial swine production and conducted large-scale commercial research in both North and South America. Dr. Gonçalves earned his Ph.D. from Kansas State University in Applied Swine Nutrition. After graduation, he worked as a nutritionist for a large swine genetic company, where he led the update of nutrition manuals for 2016 and 2018, and developed economic models for optimum energy and lysine levels. Dr. Gonçalves has conducted over 120 swine-related experiments. Among his biggest accomplishments are the organization of a TEDx Talk in Manhattan, Kansas and finishing an Ironman Triathlon after 15 hours of blood, sweat, no tears gladly. Márcio is an investor in over 8 businesses from swine production to real estate to the restaurant industry and, currently, Márcio runs the Swine it Podcast and the SwineTalks Web Conference.
