More than words… 🤔

🌱 The annual "Forest 500" report by non-profit Global Canopy of 350 companies and 150 banks and asset managers showed that 40% of them had no deforestation policy in place and, out of the ones that did have it, only half were checking to ensure such policies were being followed.

     • The report came just weeks after a global deal was struck by governments to protect biodiversity. It’s now universally accepted: ending tropical deforestation is pivotal.

     • A deforestation policy is one where the company states it protects priority forests linked to commodities it uses.

👀 According to Global Canopy, it’s remarkable (in a bad way, for sure!) that while most companies have ambitious net zero targets, almost all of those risk missing them because of inaction on the matter.
