Apr 26, 2023๐ท๐บ๐ The Russian veterinary body Rosselhoznadzor is urging national farmers to cut off the use of imported veterinary pig vaccines and drugs. The organization's made a point of highlighting that there's no official ban, but claims the request is because Western pharmaceutical companies have (supposedly) suspended deliveries in a move to deliberately cause a shortage of supplies and sabotage the requirements of Russian legislation.
• On one hand, estimates are that the Russian swine industry’s dependence on foreign drugs and vaccines ranges between 50% and 90%, depending on the product; on the other, the production of said products has been steadily growing. That is to say the agency believes Russian farmers should switch to national products in order not to depend on imports. Read more about the situation here.
