🧑‍⚖️ A 69-year-old man from Laredo, Texas, who had been employed at the USDA as a lead animal health technician for 10 years, has been sentenced to immediately pay $40,000 in fines as well as to serve 57 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to accepting bribes from Mexican cattle brokers.

⚠️ According to the judge, the sentence was increased by the gravity of the crime he committed and the risks his actions posed to the country by allowing diseased cattle into our borders. For more on the issue, click here.
