Off track 🚞

🛤️ Thankfully, the trains are still on track – what’s off track is the rail strike, derailed by the most recent moves by the government! Last week, the Senate swiftly moved to pass a tentative rail agreement, which President Biden has already signed. 

    • The producers' reliance on rail is what pushed the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) to support and celebrate averting the rail strike. Shipping conditions are already difficult, and a strike would have a devastating effect on the American economy, especially as families grapple with higher prices caused by inflation.

    • While some groups are applauding the outcomes, others are outraged – such as the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (BRS). On the other hand, Tom Vilsack, USDA secretary, says that both the rail system and workers deserve protections.
