Officer… There's an animal emergency here! ☎️
Oct 28, 2022👮♀️Imagine you’re a first responder – say, a police officer – and you’ve just received a call. Never an easy task, right? Now imagine an accident involving animals during transportation is part of the picture. Much worse, isn’t it? Michigan State University thinks so too.
- That’s why they’re launching a program – Emergency Response to Accidents Involving Livestock (ERAIL) – to build a network of trained and properly equipped responders across the state.
- Pretty relevant, considering Michigan’s robust animal agriculture industry.
🤔 The idea is to use a multi-faceted approach to provide information, resources, and training for law enforcement officials, first responders, animal control officers, veterinarians, road commission workers, livestock transporters, and people involved in the animal agriculture industry.
