That’s right: the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agriculture specialists intercepted a total of over 1.2 million pounds (!) of prohibited pork, chicken, beef, and duck products arriving from China at the Los Angeles/Long Beach (LA/LB) Seaport – America’s largest.
• This is the third year in a row that value rises, a trend set by the increase in e-commerce purchases during the pandemic.
โ ๏ธ The prohibited animal products, though in high demand, are not approved for consumption and risk bringing foreign animal diseases into the country, which could be devastating to vital US livestock resources in the case of an outbreak.
