The original roller coaster? 🇷🇺🎢

🇷🇺 Did you know that the Russians invented the roller coaster? Ironically, that’s a good metaphor for their current export/import situation. According to the Russian Union of Pork Producers (RUPP), after the slump in the first half of 2022, Russian pig farmers have seen export supplies go up again in the past several months.

  • More Russian pork has started to land on traditional markets of the post-Soviet countries, meaning that exports have slightly recovered. Supplies to Asia are still hindered by logistical challenges, however. Click here to better understand the situation.

📈 The rise in exports could be the only factor saving the Russian pig industry from bigger problems in 2022. 

It’s also important to note that Russia keeps experiencing a rise in pork consumption. So retail pork prices stay on the downward rally. Imports have tripled as well, since the Russian government abolished import duties on pork.
