🇺🇲 The US Swine Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) is a collaborative effort between industry, state, and federal entities specifically organized to meet the unique needs and challenges of the national swine industry by tracking and addressing its concerns to thus prevent the introduction as well as respond to and mitigate the impact of animal diseases. So producers were surveyed to understand the current status of biosecurity practices, and here’s an overview of the finds:

     • Showering in and out of facilities is an effective procedure, and over 50% of sites require everyone to do it.

     • There is growing concern for the potential introduction of diseases through contaminated feed ingredients. However, there are already steps that can be taken to help prevent the risk.
