Want some corn? 🌽

❌ It sucks to have an offer turned down, right? Well, that’s exactly what happened: the US wanted to sell Mexico more yellow corn, but the latter declined. We know, one doesn’t simply say "no" to a delicious corn cob! But the Mexican government has, alleging it cannot make the purchases because it does not want genetically modified (GM) corn. 

    • A supposed lack of scientific investigation into the effects of GM food and a controversial presidential decree that seeks to ban it were cited.

Neither the president of Mexico nor the USDA have responded immediately to a request for comment, and the US Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has called for clarity on Mexico's policies.
