Waste not, want not
Oct 28, 2022You know how they say “waste not, want not”? While that doesn’t necessarily mean food, it certainly applies! In 2020, during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, food waste in the EU amounted to 280 lbs (127 kgs) – with households being responsible for a whopping 55% of that value, and other stages of the food supply chain generating the remaining 45%!
🤔 Why is that so – sadly – relevant?
Because global food waste accounts, among many things, for between 8% and 10% of total greenhouse gas emissions. That’s to say that solving this issue is a priority for the EU and the rest of the world, as it impacts all sectors – pork production included.
