๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿฆ  When we said combined efforts were key, we meant ours, not the viruses'... The Swine Health Information Center (SHIC) is keeping an eye on reports out of China that outline evidence of a recombination of African Swine Fever (ASF) genotypes 1 and 2 viruses – which may prove to be more difficult to detect and less controllable through vaccination.

โš ๏ธ๐Ÿ’‰ Why is this such a big deal? Because a vaccine prototype that is efficient and safe against one genotype may not be suitable against another or any recombination, meaning a new recombinant virus could continue to spread and cause trouble. To better understand the danger, read this.
