Where it belongs ๐ง
Nov 29, 2022๐บ๐ฒ Who’s responsible for disaster mitigation in animal agriculture? According to Senator Cory Booker (D., N.J.), multiple recent crises have shone a light on how the industrial livestock system doesn’t always account for risk and liability, so that responsibility belongs to them. That’s why he has introduced the Industrial Agriculture Accountability Act.
• The Act also seeks to invest resources – the new High-Risk AFO Disaster Mitigation Fund – to enforce disaster mitigation plans and ensure that the most humane practices are used for slaughter and depopulation, if absolutely necessary.
• Those entities would need to register with the USDA, submit disaster preparedness plans, and pay a fee to establish the fund.
